Kanom Jeen — Fermented Rice Noodles

Updated 2026 · Totally Bangkok

Soft fermented rice noodles piled with curry sauces and raw vegetables — a uniquely Thai breakfast tradition.

What it is

Thin, slightly sour fermented rice noodles served room-temperature with your choice of curry poured over — green curry, fish curry (nam ya), or coconut-lemongrass sauce.

The toppings bar

Most kanom jeen stalls offer a spread of raw vegetables, pickled mustard greens, bean sprouts, and herbs to pile on yourself — interactive and fresh.

When to eat it

Primarily a morning and lunchtime dish; stalls often sell out by 1 PM.

Where to find it

Markets and small shophouse stalls throughout Bangkok, especially in residential areas; under 50 THB for a full plate.
